Once a training needs analysis has been carried out and the training needs have been identified, performance objectives can be written. These are clear descriptions of what the training is intended to achieve. DANOS provides a useful database for producing them.
The most effective way for adults to develop new skills is through experiential learning as described by David Kolb. The Learning Cycle has four stages; these have been described in a number of ways - but in its essence there are four stages:- doing something reflecting on it drawing conclusions and planning the change.
So we don't plan for long lectures but for short presentations, open discussions and case studies. We use games, questionnaires and quizzes. Training content once written is peer reviewed and checked for relevance by other members of the team. |
