Latest guidance offering to commissioners of drug and alcohol services

A new guidance document for commissioning drug and alcohol services has been released by the Joint Commissioning Panel for Mental Health (JCPMH).   Guidance for commissioners of drug and alcohol services [pdf] presents an overview of key considerations for those with local remits for developing treatment services

Barriers to Employment among Unemployed Drug Users: Age Predicts Severity.

Conclusions and Scientific Significance: These results suggest that providers of workforce development services for drug users in treatment or exiting treatment should attend to these specific barriers to employment, which may also be more pronounced among older clients. Drinkaware World Cup campaign as alcohol problems anticipated The industry funded alcohol charity Drinkaware has launched its World Cup awareness campaign. 'Hoof it' includes viral and roadshow marketing and ten thousand 'drink less play more' footballs will be given away. Local Alcohol Workforce and Skills Development Conference, 15th June 2010

Reducing Harm from Alcohol – National Resources for Local Workforce and Skills Development Conference is taking place on the 15th June 2010 in London. The conference forms part of the Skills for Health work programme commissioned by the Department of Health to address workforce development needs for specialist practitioners and all who could or do deliver Identification and Brief Advice (IBA).
