Course Rationale

Stress is a major issue for all workers in the UK but is often particularly acute for those who have to deal with people who are in acute distress and living in challenging circumstances.

Stress is seen as a psychological injury and unless robust policies and procedures are in place the organisation might find themselves liable for compensation payments.

Certain levels of stress are necessary -it is when it tips into being unhealthy that people start to crack

This course looks at what managers can do to help people respond positively and in a healthy way to the challenges that are perhaps inevitable in the workplace.

Course Aim:

to enable managers to manage workers with stress effectively.

Objectives
by the end of the course participants will be able to

Clarify their legal responsibilities

Identify common causes of unhealthy stress in their workplace

Identify common symptoms of unhealthy stress

Describe how their unhealthy stress affects the people they manage

Support a worker with unhealthy stress to adopt healthier work practices

Contribute to the formulation of effective workplace policies on stress management

Course duration: two days

Who will benefit from the course Managers and human resource professionals in organisations with front line staff.
