Course rationale

Key issues underlying many of those presented by a client are assertiveness and lack of self-esteem.  This 2 day course will explore some of the key ideas and techniques involved. It will provide participants with an opportunity to develop their own assertiveness and learn techniques that may be useful to clients.
Aim: to enable workers to communicate assertiveness techniques to their clients.

Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:-

Assert their rights in a  situation without impinging on the rights of others
Differentiate between aggressive, passive and assertive behaviour.
Clarify the kinds of situations where they are likely to be more or less assertive.
Use a range of techniques to develop their own sense of self esteem.
Say 'yes' and 'no' appropriately.
Use a range of verbal techniques to communicate assertively.
State their own boundaries and needs clearly.
Relate assertiveness techniques to their own practice.
