Course Rationale |
| This course provides an overview of the role of the drug and alcohol service manager, and addresses the responsibilities and tasks associated with the post. Over the two days participants will receive training in a range of areas required for effective management (financial management is not covered). Sessions range from setting targets to performance monitoring and managing stress (both your own and that of your staff). |
Course objectives: |
On completion of the course participants will be able to: |
Develop strategies for dealing with personal issues that may affect work, such as their own values or attitudes, or stress Identify organisational and team values and objectives Describe the responsibilities and limits of the manager’s role versus the responsibilities of a worker Evaluate their own strengths and weaknesses and those of others Develop appropriate supervision processes and skills Develop strategies to monitor the team’s work, including assessing needs for training and development Develop appropriate targets and work plans with staff Plan how to keep abreast of changes in policy, legislation, or theory that affects their work
