Diversity

Equality and diversity are issues that concern all of us working in the drugs sector. The wide range of communities on whom drugs have an impact mean that it is critical that drug services welcome everyone who needs them, regardless of ethnic group, age, gender, physical ability or sexuality, nor should we make value judgements based on how they earn their money. This course will cover the legal, ethical and practical elements of equal opportunities, and will enable participants to recognise and implement best practice in inclusive and anti-discriminatory practice.

Objectives

By the end of the course participants will be able to:
• Reflect on values, beliefs priorities and interests in relation to inclusion
• State the legal and good practice obligations of the organisation
• Evaluate their present practice against good practice guidelines for inclusion
• Identify inclusive practice within the organisation
• Assist individuals to clarify their requirements and needs in relation to diversity
• Promote equality and diversity through their working practices
